THE BEACHES Restaurants and shops.

The closest, and we think the best beaches are at Cotillo, under a 10 minute drive away.
Turn right at the football ground , through the village to the La Oliva / Cotillo main road; turn right, through El Roque; turn right at the top of Cotillo, and head down to the lagoons.
Park opposite Azurro restaurant.
Swimming here is safe, and you can swim in the big lagoon at all stages of the tide.

Turn left as you come into Cotillo, and you head to the long sandy surf beach to the south side of the village.
Do be aware that this is not a good beach from which to swim unless you are a very strong swimmer, due to rip tides and under tows, and of course the very obvious big surf.
It is a very good place to watch the surfers in action.

.
Drive to Corralejo and turn right at the first roundabout,
and you will find your way to the dunes,
where there are miles of excellent sandy beaches and coves.
Swimming is on the whole safe here.
Just obey the warning flags.

EATING OUT

Corralejo, Villa Verde, Cotillo and Lajares are all served by a great many restaurants, serving a mass of different sorts of cuisine from British to Italian, Chinese, Indian, Argentinian and Mexican, and of course Canarian. We have our favourites, which are only a very few of what is available. You must do the experimenting.
